On January 26th, 2012, the City of Miami Gardens will host the City of Miami Gardens 2012 Citizen’s Academy in the City Council Chambers, 1515 NW 167th Street. The 10-week educational program consists of interactive presentations by the various City departments and culminates into increased citizen awareness and involvement on boards, committees, and other community-wide initiatives. The graduates of the first class receive recognition for their time and participation on this new venture with a ceremony and reception. ****************************************

JOE PHILBIN NAMED MIAMI DOLPHINS MIAMI - Joe Philbin has been named the tenth head coach in Miami Dolphins team history, it was announced today by Chairman of the Board/Managing General Partner Stephen Ross and General Manager Jeff Ireland. Philbin will be introduced to the media at the Miami Dolphins Training Facility during an afternoon press conference on Saturday, January 21, 2012. “We are thrilled to have Joe Philbin join the Miami Dolphins as our head coach,” stated Ross. “Joe has all the attributes that we were looking for when we started this process. Jeff Ireland and I felt Joe was the right choice to bring the Dolphins back to the success we enjoyed in the past. "I am no stranger to Jamaica - everybody knows I can rock the house," said the soca music sensation from her Trinidad home last week. But she promised that festival attendees will see "a different side of Destra that Jamaica has never seen before."

JET BLUE AIRLINES MODEL HEADS TO JAMAICA ON ELECTION DAY NY: New York based Jamaican born model Raquel "Rocky" Heslop, who two years ago was the face of Jet Blue Airlines in a print ad campaign in the US told the INL that she plans to vacation in Ocho Rios from December 29 until January 5th 2012. "I decided to take a trip to Jamaica this year because it was long overdue. While in Jamaica, I am planning to do a photo shoot to get some hot pictures for my catalogue. I plan to visit my dad and cousin who are still living there. JAMAICA TOP ROOTS REGGAE CONCERT, PEPSI REBEL SALUTE, TO FEATURE KINGSTON, JAMAICA – December 23, 2011 – The 18th Annual Pepsi Rebel Salute has returned and will feature a superstar line-up, including Stephen Marley, Johnny Obsourne, Maxi Priest, Gramps Morgan, Queen Ifrica, Tarrus Riley, Luciano and Tony Rebel, the festival organizer. The Pepsi Rebel Salute will take place on Saturday, January 14, at the Port Kaiser Sports Club in St. Elizabeth. The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) is among the sponsors for the concert event. |
